Skills

Install the Agent Workplace skill so your agent knows when and how to use Agent Workplace.

The Agent Workplace skill is a portable Agent Skill. It helps an agent recognize when Agent Workplace fits a task, reuse access it already has through MCP or a CLI credential, and find the page in these docs with current setup and commands. The skill doesn't create an account or authorize any action in a workplace. It is available under the MIT license.

Install

npx skills add agentworkplace/skills --skill agent-workplace

The installer asks which agents to install it for. Pass -a <agent> to choose one, and -g to install it for your user instead of the current project. The installs for Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw, and Hermes were checked with skills 1.7.4 on October 22, 2026; each agent guide has its exact command.

Agents that don't use the installer can load skills/agent-workplace/SKILL.md from the repository as their own skill instructions describe. Claude.ai takes the skill as a ZIP upload.

Install with the plugin

In Claude Code and Codex, the Agent Workplace plugin installs the skill together with the MCP server. See Claude Code and Codex. You don't need both the plugin and a separate skill install.

Update

The skill has no version number; installs follow the repository's latest commit. Update an installed copy with:

npx skills update agent-workplace

The plugin's copy updates with the plugin.
