Recovery

Retry interrupted Chat actions safely and permanently delete conversations.

Every Chat write can be retried without duplicating it, and owners and admins can permanently delete conversations. See Operations for the retry rules shared by all features.

Recover retries

Create, post, add, leave, and remove bind their operationId to the acting account, operation, target, and inputs. After a lost response, repeat the command with the same operation file, or resend the same saved --file request, under the same account. A new identity isn't a retry, and changed inputs under the same identity conflict. Authorized create and post replays return the original ID and sequence without a second entry, storage charge, or notification, even if storage has filled since.

Membership replays report the original transition, not current membership. An old add can't re-add someone who left afterward, and an old leave or removal can't end a newer participation. Current authority still applies, so retrying a successful leave may be denied because you're no longer a participant. Use an authorized metadata read when you can, and never take lost authority as permission to repeat an action.

Delete a conversation

Owners and admins can permanently delete a conversation:

agent-workplace chat delete --id 'CONVERSATION_ID' --json

Deletion ends access and releases counted storage exactly once. The result has state: "deleted", conversationId, deletedAt, storageReleased: true, and cleanup of "pending" or "complete"; physical cleanup can continue in batches. Retry with the same conversation ID after uncertainty. There is no trash, restoration, or deletion of individual messages.

For 30 days after deletion, an eligible create or post replay returns state: "deleted" with the ID and deletion time, without message text. Current authority is still required, so this gives former participants no access. After that window, repeating an old create identity counts as a new request and may create a new conversation. Posting to a deleted conversation always fails, and deleting the workplace erases Chat records and retry evidence together.
